چکیده

Wurtzite structured ZnS nanoribbons have been synthesized by a catalyst-free solid–vapor deposition technique. The nanoribbon has a saw-teeth shape, and the nanosaw is formed by a two-step process: a fast growth along a-axis forms the body of the saw; a subsequent growth along c-axis creates the teeth. The one-sided teeth structure is suggested to be the self-catalyzed growth of the Znterminated (0 0 0 1) surface, while the oxygen-terminated (0 0 0 1) surface is relatively chemically inactive. The growth of feather -like structure of ZnS is also reported. 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Hierarchical structured nanohelices of ZnS.

Wurtzite-structured materials, such as ZnO, ZnS, GaN, and AlN, have an important characteristic: the presence of polar surfaces that result from cationor anion-terminated atomic planes. Consequently, a series of novel nanostructures, such as nanosprings, nanorings, nanohelices, and nanobows, have been formed. The mechanism that drives the formation of these novel configurations minimizes the el...

Influence of lattice integrity and phase composition on the photocatalytic hydrogen production efficiency of ZnS nanomaterials.

Ambient S annealing was adopted to regulate the crystallinity of a ZnS microsphere, which resulted in a significant improvement in the photocatalytic hydrogen production activity (PHPA). Moreover, with S ambient treatment, wurtzite ZnS showed better PHPA than sphalerite ZnS, possibly because the inter-polar electric field of the wurtzite phase could promote the separation of photo-excited elect...

Dependence on the structure and surface polarity of ZnS photocatalytic activities of water splitting: first-principles calculations.

It has been reported that phase structure and surface polarity largely affect the photocatalytic efficiency of semiconductor nanostructures. To understand the chemical activity of ZnS at the electronic level, we investigate electron structures and carrier transportation ability for bulk intrinsic zinc blende (ZB) and wurtzite (WZ) ZnS, as well as the reaction pathway of hydrogen generation from...

Low-temperature, template-free synthesis of wurtzite ZnS nanostructures with hierarchical architectures

Hierarchical wurtzite ZnS architectures assembled from nanosheets and nanorods, such as branched flowers and fluffy solid and hollow spheres, have been synthesized by a facile, template-free, low-temperature solution route. The growth of wurtzite ZnS nanostructures at temperatures as low as 4 ◦C without any organic additives has been realized by the slow reaction between Zn(NH3) 2+ 4 and thioac...
